Barbara C. (Niemczyk) Demont, 80, of Holden, passed away on April 25th, 2025, peacefully in the comfort of her home with family. Barbara was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York, the daughter of the late Albert and Martha Niemczyk. She graduated from Evander Childs High School in New York City.
She moved to Holden in 1972 with her young family. Soon after she began working as a secretary, inside sales representative and engineering assistant, finishing her career this past January with the same core team of dear friends that she worked with for almost 50 years. For many years, she also delivered newspapers via car in the early morning hours throughout Jefferson and Holden.
Barbara loved to spend time with her family and friends, and especially their dogs. She also adored her Welsh Corgis Ted E. Bear, Ely and Chelsea, and those of her friends. Throughout her life Barbara enjoyed being artistically creative, whether through oil painting, hosting ceramics classes in her home, or doing various forms of knitting, crocheting, needlepointing and macrame. She was an exceptionally hard worker, fiercely strong and independent, and a mentor to family and friends. Barbara enjoyed listening to country music and was quick to inform anyone that she absolutely hated her cell phone.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Judith Niemczyk of Holden; her sons John Rokicki and his wife Mary-Ann Rokicki of Rutland, and James Rokicki and his wife Anjanette Roldan of Tennessee; her grandchildren Rebecca, Alicia, Thomas, Megan and Emma Rokicki; and her great-granddaughter Madisyn Rokicki.
A Celebration of Life service will be held with family and friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
