Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara A. (Duggan) Marhafer, 87, formerly of Dixfield Rd. died Sat., May 5 at Westborough Healthcare Center. Her husband, Walter G. Marhafer died in 1990. She leaves three sons, Walter F. of Stoneham, Robert E. of Manchester, NH and Worcester Firefighter, Stephen J. Marhafer of Worcester; three grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece. She also leaves a sister, Roberta Pieper of Chester, VT. Her brother, Charles H. Duggan and her sister, Mary M. Coonan predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Charles H. and Beatrice (Hampston) Duggan and lived her all her life. Barbara was an executive secretary for the Area Aging Agency, Inc. for 10 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Christopher's Church, AARP and a longtime member of the YMCA where she was an avid swimmer.

Barbara's wishes were that funeral services and burial be private. Memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. Arrangements are under the care of CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St.
