Barbara A. (Gaffney) LaHair, 80, of Main Street in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Saturday, Jan., 28, 2012 at her daughter’s home, after an illness.
She leaves her husband, Raymond M. LaHair with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary Friday. She also leaves her son, Raymond M. LaHair, Jr. and his wife Julie of Maynard; two daughters, Linda A Lauder and her husband Richard of North Brookfield, Donna M. Tebo and her husband Ronald of Rochdale; a brother, Robert Gaffney and his wife Ruth of Auburn; a sister, Dorothy O’Neil and her husband James of Cherry Valley; six grandchildren, Richard Lauder, Tammy Tebo-Williams and her husband Brian, Kelly Lauder-Gratton and her husband Rob, Matthew Tebo and his wife Colleen, Brian LaHair and his fiancé Cassandra, and Alex LaHair; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emma, Tyler, Adam and Jayke, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Henry “Sonny” Gaffney.
Mrs. LaHair was born in Worcester, daughter of Henry and Waltrude (Johnson) Gaffney. She worked in the packaging department at Millbrook Distributors for 40 years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Galica and his nurse Judy, Michael LeClair from VNA Care Network and Paulette Hallihan from UMass Memorial Hospice for all their compassionate care.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 11:00 AM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.
