Aurelia M. (Richard) Clifford, 85, formerly of 1050 Main St., died Monday in Worcester County Hospital, Boylston, after a long illness.
Her husband, Lawrence A. Clifford, died in 1976. She leaves three sons, Richard L. and Edward P. Clifford, both of Worcester, and Lawrence J. Clifford of Wallingford, Conn.; a daughter, Mary Lou Scanlon of Worcester; a sister, Pauline Poire of Auburn; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was born in Gardner, a daughter of Isaac and Louisa (Pelletier) Richard, and had lived in Worcester all her life.
Mrs. Clifford was an organist for the former St. Anthony’s Church for 20 years, retiring in 1969. She was also an organist for many years at Ascension Church, playing for weddings and funerals.
She was a member of the Worcester Music Festival for many years, a charter member of the Worcester County Light Opera Club, and a former member of St. Paul’s Radio Choir. She was a member of La Societe Des Artisans, L’Union St. Jean Baptiste, the Golden Years Club of Auburn and the Catholic Golden Age. She belonged to the 1050 Club and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame des Canadiens Church, 1 Salem Square. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are 6 to 9 p.m. today. The family rquests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame des Canadiens Church Renovation Fund.
