Subscription Update Obituary

Arthur W. Forgit, 83, of Gardner Street, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arline C. (Lavallee) Forgit of Oxford; three sons, Gerald A. Forgit of Fertile, MN, Francis R. Forgit of East Hampstead, NH, and Paul E. Spencer of Oxford; two daughters, Gail A. Gilbreath of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Kathryn M. Brayton of Dudley; three brothers, Lorenzo “Lester” Forgit of Spencer, Rev. Robert Ambrose Forgit of Fairhaven, MA, and Raymond Forgit of Orr’s Island, ME; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Arthur J. and Alice E. (Wellington) Forgit, and lived in Rochdale for many years and Quinebaug, CT, for several years, before moving to Oxford in 1950. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Forgit was a machinist at Wyman-Gordon Company in Worcester and Grafton for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Previously, he worked at Cushman Bakery in Lynn for 20 years. Mr. Forgit was a member of St. Roch’s Church. He loved woodworking and making furniture, and was an avid fisherman.

A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2006, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, December 21, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
