Arthur H. Devault Jr. died on Friday June 21, 2013 with his family by his side. He was 86 years old.
Born on April 20, 1927 in Worcester ‘Archie’ was the son of the late Arthur H. and Ruth (Ahlstrand) Devault and lived most of his life in Worcester and his last years in Webster. He proudly served in the Navy and a Veteran of WWII.
He worked in his father’s business, a corner store where he worked the soda fountain in Northborough and after marriage he worked as a short order cook at the New Yorker Diner and as a gas station attendant for Texaco Oil. He worked many years at Atkins and Merrill and was proud to help build parts of the space shuttle. Archie was an all-star baseball player in high school. Later in life he loved an entertaining game of golf with his friends and family members especially his sons and grandsons. He loved spending time with family and friends, bowling, dancing and karaoke. He lived each day to its fullest.
He is survived by his wife Yvette (Doris) Claprood Devault; his seven children, Darlene A. Breed and her husband Stephen of Holden, Deborah D. Havalotti and her husband William of Millbury, Wendy D. Wheeler and her husband Roy of Leicester, Arthur H. “Sonny” Devault III and his wife Barbara of Spencer, Raymond J. Devault of East Brookfield, Brian J. Devault and his wife, Kristen and Bruce M. Devault and his wife Brenda, all of Millbury; a step-son, Paul bucci of Duxbury his siblings, Earlene Porier of Vallejo, CA, Warren Devault of Northborough and Kenneth Devault of Oxford; 17 grandchildren, many great -grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Dunlop and a daughter-in-law, Carol Devault.
Family and friends will honor and remember Archie’s life by gathering on Saturday, June 29th for a graveside service in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. There are no calling hours.
