Subscription Update Obituary

Armand E. Laperle, 87, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, May 24th 2011 in his home after an illness.

Armand was born in Worcester on August 7, 1923, son of the late Hector F. and Mary A. (Hedge) Laperle and was married to Marie (Goyette) Laperle who died in 1999.

Mr. Laperle worked as a press operator for 42 years from 1948 to his retirement in 1990 at the Heffernan Press Company. He is a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.

Armand leaves behind three sons: Joseph A. Laperle and his wife Suzanne of Grafton, MA, Phillipe T. Laperle and his wife Jinmei of Keeseville, NY, Richard R. Laperle and his wife Terri of New Ipswich, NH; three daughters: Constance A. Laperle of Worcester, MA, Terry Laperle and her partner Mari Willey of Mechanicsburg, PA, Jacquelin M. Quinlan of Worcester, MA; four brothers: Rev. Theodore R. Laperle of Fitchburg, MA, Raymond G. Laperle of Worcester, MA, Brother Louis F. Laperle SC of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in RI, and Paul A. Laperle of Spencer, MA; a sister, Claire L. Halvey and her companion Mentor Kerxhalli of Auburn, MA; 10 grandchildren: Karen Taylor and Jennifer Page of Worcester, MA, Amy Gordona of Sutton, MA, Jessica Laperle of Grafton, MA, Nathan, Sarah and Maria Laperle of NH; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church where he served as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. Armand previously belonged to the former Holy Name of Jesus Church until it’s closing where he was active and volunteered his time helping many others in the church community. Mr. Laperle also volunteered for many years for the Diocese of Worcester as an Altar Server for the Daily Television Mass. Most recently, Bishop McManus presented Armand with the St. Paul Award for meritorious service to the Dioceses of Worcester. In presenting the award the bishop stated, “You’re a man of great faith, Armand, and it is a privilege for me to present you with this award.”

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 27th from the Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home on Hammond Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. His brother, Rev.Theodore Laperle, will be the Principal Celebrant. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Calling hours are on Thursday, May 26th from 5- 8pm in the funeral home.
