April V. Pentland, 69 of Auburn, passed away at home on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
April was born on November 9, 1948 in Worcester, the daughter of Gertrude Blanche (Wheeler) Pentland and Ray Hamilton Pentland, Jr. She attended Auburn High School and took classes at Clark University. She worked in banking as a bank teller for 25 years.
She enjoyed writing science fiction, classical music, show tunes, history, old movies and dabbling in theatre. April loved flowers and enjoyed trips to Tower Hill Botanical Garden. She was extremely fond of animals, particularly cats and horses and shared many stories of the “good ol’ days” riding horses when she was a young girl. She had a sharp wit and always enjoyed a good joke.
April was a member and sang in the choir at the former All Saints Universalist Church.
She leaves her cousins, Jane Getchell of Bethany Beach, Delaware and also, Dawn Wheeler, Kristin Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, Joel Wheeler, Dale Larson and Lynne Walker. A cousin, Robin Hitt, died in 2010.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
