Antoinette Mary Miller, 91, passed away in her sleep, with her family by her side on May 2, 2010, due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Antoinette was born in Barnesboro, PA on January 31, 1919 to Augustine and Anna Porto. The family moved to Bridgeport, CT during the Depression, where she grew up.

She married Herbert G. Miller in 1938. Herbert and Ann raised two children, Raymond and Patricia, in Worcester, Massachusetts.

She became a very successful manager for Casual Corner, as well as a mentor for many high school and college girls. She was nominated Woman of the Year in Worcester for her business acumen. With a formal education that ended in the eighth grade, she was an inspiration to many with her “can do” attitude and common sense ability to reduce any obstacle to easy steps to overcome.

She moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine after the death of her husband and resided with her daughter, Patricia Dawes and family.

Visiting hours will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 6th at The Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, May 7th at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Cape Elizabeth. Burial will be 12 noon on Saturday, May 8th at Worcester County Memorial in Paxton, Massachusetts.
