Subscription Update Obituary

   Retired Worcester Police Officer, Anthony D. Butler, 59 of Leicester, passed away Monday, October 29th in Neurological Rehabilitation Center at Worcester after an illness.

   Anthony is survived by his wife and partner of 33 years, Gail D. (Duquette) Butler; two sons: Matthew Butler, Michael Butler and his fiancée Jeannine Beauregard, all of Leicester; a brother, George Butler; two sisters: Mary Linda Bloumis and Maureen Butler, all of Worcester; nieces and nephews. A brother, Ronnie Butler predeceased him. Anthony was born in Worcester, son of Arthur and Virginia (Bombredi) Butler. He grew up in Worcester, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star for Valor in Battle and has lived in Leicester more than 10 years.

   Tony worked as a Police Officer for the City of Worcester more than 24 years, before retiring in 2000. He previously worked as a Carpenter Journeyman.

   He was a member of the Worcester Emerald Society, the Vernon Hill Post American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #4 in Worcester, the Worcester Police Relief, The Police Credit Union, The Massachusetts Police Association and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Union.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31st in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Neurological Rehabilitation Center, 59 Acton St., Worcester 01609.
