Anna M. (Setaro) Protano, 81, formerly of Worcester, passed away Saturday, March 8th, 2008, in William W. Backus Hospital, Norwich, Connecticut, after a brief illness. Her husband Raffaele “Ralph” Protano passed away in August of 2000.

   She is survived by her devoted children, Raymond P. Protano of Voluntown, CT, with whom she lived, Donna (Protano) Lambutis and her husband John of Worcester, and Michael F. Protano of Auburn; a sister, Frances Corio of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Joseph, John and Christopher Setaro and two sisters, Clara Setaro and Rose Leary all pre deceased her. She was born in Worcester; her parents were the late Angelo and Josephine (DeSantis) Setaro. She lived in Worcester and Sturbridge before moving to Voluntown three years ago.

   Anna worked as a Nurse Aide for various medical facilities before retiring.

   Anna’s funeral will be held Wednesday, March 12th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 11th in the funeral home.
