Ann Marie McHugh formerly of Hubbardston, MA and Inverness, Florida, died peacefully Feb. 21, 2011 at Baldwinville Nursing Home where she resided for 2 years. Born Ann Marie White, daughter of Gertrude and William White, in Worcester, MA, Feb. 27, 1932.
Ann was a homemaker, master seamstress and accomplished artist, taking up oil painting at 50, it became a passion in her golden years. Mother of seven children, she also managed the bookkeeping for the family business in the early years. She enjoyed helping people and most of all loved spending time with her family. The majority of her child rearing days were spent in Barre, MA. In their retirement, she and her late husband of 52 years, Alfred, wintered in Inverness and summered in Hubbardston.
Ann was a former member and volunteer of the Barre Riding and Driving Club and was volunteer secretary for the East Cove Community Center, Inverness. She was also a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Inverness.
Ann is survived by her only sibling, Mary Lyons, of North Brookfield, MA and her seven children, Roger McHugh (wife Kathleen) of Petersham, MA, Patricia McHugh (fiancée Joel) of Athol, MA, Dennis McHugh (fiancée Marcy) of Orange, MA, Daniel McHugh (wife Pamela) of Hubbarston, MA, Kenneth McHugh (fiancée Cynthia), Linda McHugh Geils (husband Geoffrey) of New Fairfield, CT and Timothy McHugh of Petersham, MA along with ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours 4-7 pm on Friday, February 25, 2011 in Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 S. Barre Rd., Barre, MA. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 am in St. Josephs Church, South St., Barre. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
