Subscription Update Obituary

Ann M. (McNamara) Fortier, died Monday, December 9th in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family. Her husband of 56 years, Norman L. Fortier died in 2016. She leaves her three sons, Daniel J. Fortier of Auburn, John J. Fortier and his wife, Terri of Lewiston, ME, and Kenneth P. Fortier and his wife, Viktoria of Chaplin, CT; her nephew and niece, James LaPlace and his wife, Kathleen of Maspeth, NY, Cathy Rogan and her husband, John of East Northport, NY; and several great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Shannon Fortier; a sister, Mary LaPlace and a brother, Johnny McNamara.

Born and raised in New York, New York by her Irish immigrant mother and father. She was a graduate of St. John’s University and began her teaching career in both private and public elementary schools. She worked for the Mercy Center in Worcester for many years, and truly enjoyed her time spent there. Ann was an active parishioner of Christ the King Church serving as both a lector and volunteer. She will be truly missed by everyone she touched.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, December 13th from 8:45 until 9:45 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester followed by her funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 319, Grafton, MA 01519.
