Ann C. (McLaughlin) McDade of Sierra Vista, AZ, formerly of Paxton, passed away on March 2nd 2007.
Ann leaves her husband Edward J. McDade Jr. of Sierra Vista, AZ; a daughter, Joyce A. Laffin and son-in law Maurice J. Laffin, along with her grandchild Kate Alexa Laffin of Worcester; a son, Edward W. McDade and daughter-in law Karin Z. McDade of Sierra Vista, AZ; a sister, Joan M. Hanset of Sierra Vista, AZ; and several cousins. Ann is now at peace and has joined her late parents and son Thomas Michael.
Ann was born in Leominster, MA on July 16th, 1931. She Graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, MA in 1949. Ann was inspirational as an artist in putting her class' yearbook together. Her artwork excellence propelled her forward toward greater things. Ann graduated from the Elisabeth Ollis School of Beauty & Culture in Worcester, MA. in 1950. Ann followed graduation with a career as a hairdresser in the Fitchburg area for several years. She married her husband Ed in 1952. They spent most of their lives in Fitchburg and Paxton. They moved to Sierra Vista, AZ in December 2000. Ann & Ed were together 54 years, a lifetime by any standard.
Ann spent more than forty years in the Worcester County area supporting the Red Cross, the American Heart Association, Burbank Hospital, St. Camillus & St. Columba's parishes and various other charities along the way. Ann supported her family, her church, and her community, without fanfare or personal recognition. Ann loved art and antiques. She loved to spend spare time drawing, painting, and gardening.
Ann battled Alzheimer's disease for the last 10 years of her life. A very difficult disease that today is not easily understood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Watertown MA, www.alzmass.org.
We are going to have a celebration of Ann's Life. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31st from the Caswell King Funeral Home, Grove St., Worcester. Calling hours are 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Columba's Church, Paxton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Cemetery, Paxton.
