Subscription Update Obituary

     Alphonse A. Laramee, 87, of Shrewsbury, died Sept. 11, 2007 in Worcester.  He leaves his beloved wife, Lee (Gosselin) Laramee; 5 children, Linda Liberty of Worcester, John Laramee of Lowell, James Laramee of Oxford, Lisa Murphy of Shrewsbury and Paul Laramee of Shrewsbury; 11 grandchildren, Carrie Ann Orr, Robert and David Brady; Scott, Michael, Nicole, Michelle and Brittany Laramee; Eric, Caitlin and Bryan Murphy. He was predeceased by his brothers, Romeo, Robert and Joseph Laramee, and his sisters, Cecile Brennan, Loretta Buron and Dorothy Letourneau.
    
He was born in Leominster, son of Albert and Exilda (Landry) Laramee. He lived in Auburn for many years and later lived in Grafton and Shrewsbury and spent many winters in Naples, Florida. He graduated in 1938 from South High School in Worcester, where he was an All City selection and captain of the football team. He served as a Boatswain Mate First Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Arkansas in the Philippines and during the invasion of Okinawa. He worked for 35 years retiring in 1978 from the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester and Cherry Valley. After his retirement Mr. Laramee worked for the U.S. Air Force R.O.T.C. program at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. He enjoyed woodworking and was a devoted father and grandfather. He had coached Little League in Auburn.
    
Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester are Thursday, Sept. 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 14th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
