Allen E. Petit, Sr., 64, of Worcester, a retired Worcester Police Officer and US Marine Corps veteran, died at home on Saturday, December 12th, after being stricken ill.

    He leaves his loving partner, Ms. Lee M. Jolin; his two children, Allen E. Petit, Jr. and his wife Alicia and Nichole Furcinitti and her husband Joseph, both of Worcester; his former wife, Paula (Peris) Petit of Worcester; his three siblings, Richard Petit and his wife Carlene of Auburn, Shirley Sinkis and her husband Al of Worcester and Barbara Sinkis and her husband Chet of Oxford; his three sisters-in-law, Eileen, Marie and Shirley Petit; and his 7 grandchildren, Kaity, Josiah, Heidi, Hannah, and Bethy Furcinitti and Jordyn and Luke Petit; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and Phillip Petit.

    He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Archie and Lois (Hartley) Petit. He attended South High School, and then joined the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving in Vietnam. Upon returning to Worcester, Al joined the Worcester Police Department as an officer, for 10 years. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed travelling. He had a special love for his cats, including Muffin, Molly and Lucy, and his favorite Max who died this summer.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, December 16th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, December 17th at 10 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial with Military Honors in the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
