Subscription Update Obituary

    Alice I. (Maki) Hedlund, 94, died peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2010 in the Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Her husband, Paul Hedlund died in 1980. Alice was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of John and Hulda (Kallio) Maki, and lived many years in Holden. She graduated from North High School in Worcester and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

    Alice worked at Norton Co. for several years and attended Central Church in Worcester. She was an accomplished pianist, piano teacher and a local accompanist.

    A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to Sweetpea F.O.R. Animals, P.O. Box 897, Rutland, MA 01543. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
