Albert A. “Butch” Genest, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 6, 2013, at home, with his family by his side after a long illness. He was 66. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda (Muir) Genest, who was his soul mate, high school sweetheart and tireless caregiver. He is also survived by three children; Tina and Danielle of Northbridge and Michael, of Uxbridge and three grandchildren; Nicholas Harper, who is currently in Naval Basic Training in Illinois and Brittany and Madison of Uxbridge. He is also survived by his most faithful companion, his dog Rocky, who never left his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Hazel (Powell) Genest.
Albert was born September 14, 1946 in Lowell. He grew up in Rutland and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School before entering the Army. He was a helicopter crew chief during the Viet Nam War. He worked at Wyman Gordon in Grafton for 25 years and was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Northbridge for many years. His many hobbies included woodworking, NASCAR, and of course, his Patriots which he never missed!
Albert’s family would like to thank Salmon Hospice for all their care, especially Barbara Deluca, his nurse, for her professional care and personal touch. She made the difficult times easier.
Funeral arrangements and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northbridge Fire Department Gift Fund, Main St., Whitinsville, MA 01588. Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville is assisting the family with arrangements.
