Subscription Update Obituary

    Alan H. Stone, 71, of South St., died Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

    He leaves his wife of 50 years, Ruth E. (Cummings) Stone; two daughters, Sheila Rygiel and her husband Edward of West Brookfield and Ann Noga and her husband Alan of Southbridge; two sons, Dennis Maesto of Littleton and Ralph Maesto of West Brookfield; one sister, Gwyneth Furio of Alabama; two brothers, Robert Stone and his wife Andrea of Webster and Steven Stone and his wife Ruth of Alabama; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    He was born in Worcester son of the late Stephen D. and Irene (McAllan) Stone and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. Mr. Stone was a truck driver for over 30 years for the C. K. Smith Oil Company before retiring in 2010. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Quaboag Chapter 4133 and St. Stanislaus Society in West Warren.

    A Funeral Service for Alan will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held Thursday prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
