Subscription Update Obituary

Agnes G. (Locker) Pond, 94, of 17 Finn Park Road, died Sunday, January 14, 2007 in Holden Nursing Home, after an illness.

Her husband of 50 years, Clarence A. Pond, died in 1986. She leaves her sister, Miriam Lamondy of Putnam, Connecticut; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Norma I. Johanson of Rutland. Her children predeceased her, Albert "Butch" W. Pond in 2003, James E. Pond in 1971 and Madeline A. Jacobs on August 25, 2006. Three brothers, Gerald, John and Edward Locker and two sisters, Alma Denton and Julia Bernier, also predeceased her. She was born in New York, New York, daughter of Jacob and Nellie (Joray) Locker, and lived in Rutland for many years.

Mrs. Pond was a graduate of Killingly High School in Danielson, CT, and the Rutland Sanatorium School of Nursing in 1933. Mrs. Pond was a Registered Nurse and night supervisor for Holden Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Rutland Congregational Church its Monday club and memorial committee, and was a member of the Rutland Council on Aging.

The funeral service for Mrs. Pond will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 19, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543.
