William H.Hackett Jr;74,of 9 Fern St;a retired supervisor,died yesterday in St.Vincent Hospital after a short illness.He leaves his wife of 43 years,Nancy E.(Crowley)Hackett;four sons,William H.Hackett III,Vincent P;Paul J;and Robert E.Hackett,all of Worcester;a daughter,Susan M.Charest of Auburn,two brothers,Paul L.and John L.Hackett;three sisters,Rita C.Gagnon,Eileen C.O’Connell,and Catherine T.Hammond,all of Worcester;seven grandchildren;nephews and nieces.He was born in Worcester,son of William H.Hackett Sr and Catherine A.(Shaughnessy)Hackett,and lived here most of his life.He graduated from St.Peter’s High School and spent seven years at the Maryknoll Seminary in Ossining,N.Y.and Clark Summit,Pa.Mr.Hackett was a supervisor for American District Telegraph for 35 years,retiring in 1986.He also worked Part time for Brink’s Inc;and once worked at Wyman-Gordan Co.Mr.Hackett was a member of St.Andrew the Apostle Church and a former member of its Men’s Club.He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.He was a member of Local 170,Teamsters Union.The funeral will be held tomorrow from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home,592Park Ave;with a Mass at 10 a.m.in St.Andrew the Apostle Church,16 Vineyard St.Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park,Paxton.Calling Hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the funeral home.Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions made to the Worcester Association for Retarded Citizens,415 Main St,Worcester,01608 From:Worcester Telegram & Gazette,May 3,1995,B:7
