Subscription Update Obituary

    Victor A. Kolesh, 89, of Anderson Ave. died Wed., Dec. 9, 2009 at his residence. He was the husband of Victoria M. (Misko) Kolesh.

    Mr. Kolesh was a design engineer for Wyman Gordon Co., making aircraft forgings. Until his retirement in 1985, he held various engineering and management positions at Simonds, Saw & Steel in Fitchburg for 26 years and at Riley Stoker Corp. for an additional 13 years.

    Mr. Kolesh was born May 26, 1920 in Worcester, the son of the late Anthony and Bernice (Kucinskiute) Kolesh. He was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School, where he was a member of the high school football team and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1941 majoring in mechanical engineering. Mr. Kolesh had been a resident of Shrewsbury before moving to Holden in 1951.

    Mr. Kolesh was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He had 35 successful missions in the Asiatic Theatre on a B-29 Super Fortress as a flight engineer. Mr. Kolesh was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, two Presidential Unit Citations and three Pacific Battle Stars. His last assignment was to fly a B-29 to Hollywood, CA for the film "Bamboo Blond" starring Frances Langford.

    Mr. and Mrs. Kolesh recently observed their 63rd wedding anniversary.

    Mr. Kolesh was a long time member of the Masons & Scottish Rite of Worcester. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed following the Patriots and Celtics.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his cousin, David Koleshis of Uxbridge; a nephew, Peter J. Tankis of Uxbridge; a niece, Linda K. Desrosiers of Sutton and many great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one brother, Robert Kolesh.

    Funeral services with Full Military Honors will be held Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at 2 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. (Rt. 122), Uxbridge, MA 01569.

    Graveside services will be private in the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
