Subscription Update Obituary

Raymond F. "Sailor" Modig, of Millbury, passed away on March 1, in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mabel V. (Sparrow) of Millbury; 2 sons, Wayne R. Modig and his wife Judith and Brian R. Modig and his wife Jeannie, and a sister, Bertha (Modig) Larson. He leaves 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Modig was predeceased by 2 brothers, William and Herbert Modig and a sister, Phyllis (Modig) Wahlstrom.

Born in Worcester, Raymond was the son of the late Carl and Tekla (Lindgren) Modig. He retired from the Norton Company in 1974 after 37 years as a molder and was a 50-year member of the Franklin Lodge AF&AM of North Grafton. Mr. Modig was a veteran of the US Navy and served aboard the ship USS Omaha.

Funeral services for Mr. Modig will be held on Monday at the convenience of the family. He will then be laid to rest in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Robert C. Roney Funeral Homes, 152 Worcester Street, North Grafton, MA 01536.
