Subscription Update Obituary

   Mary (Ryder) Harvey, 89, of Shrewsbury Commons Drive, a businesswoman, died Sunday, March 30, at the Christopher House in Worcester.

   She leaves her husband, George M. Harvey Jr.; a son, George M. Harvey III of Del Ray Beach, Calif.; a sister, Agnes R. Killelea of Worcester; a niece, Mary E. Killelea of Shrewsbury; a nephew Kevin Killelea of Paxton; a grandnephew; and a grandniece. A brother, John Ryder, predeceased her. She was born in Clinton, the daughter of Patrick and Ellen (Salmon) Ryder.

   She lived in New Jersey for many years before returning to the Worcester area in 1968. She attended Clinton schools and graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. Mrs. Harvey and her husband founded the Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton and she served on its board of directors for many years. She was also the longtime president of H & R Memorial Sales, Inc., Paxton. Previously, she was president of Rosedale Memorial Park in Linden, New Jersey.

   She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, the Irish Georgian Society of Boston, the New Jersey Cemetery Association, the Women's Club in Linden, New Jersey, Altrusa International, Worcester Country Club and Tatnuck Country Club. She and her husband maintained a home in West Port, Ireland, where they summered, and where she was a member of the Salmon-Ryder Family Association.

   The funeral will be held on Friday, April 4, from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Entombment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours area 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the funeral home.
