George J. Cappuccio, 100, of Winthrop Lane, beloved husband and father, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Holden Nursing Home.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Ann F. (Tynan) Cappuccio; a daughter, Dolores A. Ordway and her husband Albert of Hubbardston; two grandchildren, Timothy Ordway of Bell, Florida and Christine Marcinkiewicz of Hubbardston; three great-grandchildren, Lane, Angela and Faith; and several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Francesco and Anna (Femino) Cappuccio, and has lived in Holden since 1962.
George graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and worked for Wyman – Gordon for many years. Previously, he worked for Walberg and Auge in Worcester. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and served as a trumpet player with the 181st Infantry Band and the 1st Infantry "Big Red One". His love of music filled a very important part of his life. He played the trumpet in several groups in the local area including, the Grotto Band. George was a quiet and gentle family man who was respected by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, followed by a graveside service at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activity Fund at the Holden Nursing Home, 32 Mayo Dr., Holden, MA 01520.
