Clifton H.Hulbert, 75,of 42 Ardmore Road died yesterday in the University of Massachusetts Hospital after an illness.He leaves his wife,Elizabeth G.(Peterson)Hulbert;and many nephews and nieces.Mr.and Mrs.Hulbert observed their 47th wedding anniversary in February.He was born in St.Johnsbury,Vt,son of Samuel M.and Anna Marie(Truscott)Hulbert,and lived here 66 years. Mr.Hulbert earned a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State Teachers College and a masters degree from Clark University.He did graduate work at the University of Massachusetts,Amherst,and Worcester State College. Mr.Hulbert was an Army Veteran of World War II,serving as a staff sergeant with the 913 Field Artillery in the European-African-Middle Eastern theater.He was stationed in Italy. Mr.Hulbert was a teacher in the Worcester School system for 37 years,retiring in 1984.He taught at Dix Street School,Burncoat Junior High School and South High School.Before World WarII,he worked at the former American Steel & Wire Division,U.S.Steel Corp. Mr.Hulbert was a member of St.Luke’s Episcopal Church,the Greendale Retirement Club and the Worcester Art Museum.He was a former board director of the Worcester Public Library.Mr.Hulbert was a member of the Education Association of Worcester,the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association.Mr Hulbert was a member of Athelstan Lodge of Masons;Connecticut Valley Consistory,32nd degree,Scottish Rie bodies;Lawrence Chapter of Rose Croix;Melha Temple Shrine in Springfield;and the Hampshire Shrine Club. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Tuesday in St.Luke’s Episcopal Church,921 Pleasant St.The Rev.Canon Edward R.Greene will officiate.Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park,Paxton.There are no calling hours.The family requests that flowers be omitted.Memorial contributions may be made instead to St.Luke’s Episcopal Church,921 Pleasant St;Worcester,01602,or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children,516 Carew ST;Springfield,01104
