Maryanne (Gibbas) Tingley, 93, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Christopher House of Worcester. Her husband, Warren E. Tingley, predeceased her in February 1985.
Maryanne was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, William and Nellie (Venitsky) Gibbas, and has lived here most her life. She worked as a cashier at Shaw’s Markets for many years, before she retired. She had previously worked as a waitress at the Kenmore Hotel in Boston.
She was a member of Saint Anne Church in Shrewsbury. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her time at home, tending to her husband, family and friends.
She is survived by her caregiver and friend, and neighbors Beverly Gaylord and her husband John and their son Kristopher of Worcester.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, (Route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Anne’s Human Service, in care of the church. Services entrusted to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
