Louise W. Hanson, 91, of Holden and Cherryfield, Maine, died in Framingham Monday, August 12, 2013. She was born in Worcester and graduated from Holden High School.

Louise then continued her education at North Adams School of Nursing. She began a long career as an R.N. specializing in pediatric care at Holden District Hospital and later as Dr. Leroy E. Mayo’s office nurse. In addition to her “day” job, Louise and her beloved husband Edward, pursued their love of antiques and opened the E&L Antique Shop on Main Street in Holden. They worked together to restore the beauty and utility to treasures long forgotten by this world becoming quite the antiques “experts” in the process. After many successful years of operation they retired in their 80s and built a beautiful, rural ocean front farm in Down East Maine.

Louise was an avid crafter and talented painter. She and Eddie continued antiquing, raising chickens and homing pigeons, and always maintained a fabulous garden which kept them well fed throughout the winter months. She was always blessed to have had the company of her husband and best friend for almost 70 years. He died in October of 2010. Their work ethic, pioneering spirit and love for one another has left a lasting impression on all that knew them.

Louise leaves her son, Michael Hanson and his wife Elizabeth of Princeton; a daughter, Linda Ryan and her husband Frederick of Framingham; six grandchildren, Debra, Pamela, Cheryl, Mark, Julie and Melanie; 13 great-grandchildren, Erik, Max, Jack, Georgia, Dahlia, Will, Mia Ava, Connor, Adele, Kelsey and Noah; and two sisters, Helen and Nancy.

A private graveside service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. To share a memory or offer an online condolence, please “Sign the Guestbook” on this page.
