Leone E. “Yonnie” (Moody) Englund, 96, formerly of Gates Road, Princeton, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Sterling Village.
Her husband of 63 years, Leonard K. Englund predeceased her in 2002.
She leaves a daughter, Jeanne L. Silven, and her husband Jerry of Princeton; a son, Bruce L. Englund and his partner Phyllis McCasland of Princeton; two grandchildren, Jason W. Silven and Jodi Sarkisian, both of Princeton; two great grandchildren, Casey and Mackenzie Sarkisian; a sister, Priscilla Peterson of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four sisters, Laura Thompson, Barbara Bostock, Hazel Faucher and Marjory Tolman.
Leone was born in Worcester, daughter of Leon F. and Gladys (Whitney) Moody. In 1975 she retired from the position of auditor of the Worcester Mechanics Savings Bank, which eventually merged with People’s Savings Bank.
In addition to being a certified Red Cross nurse, she also worked at St. Vincent Hospital and the blood mobile. Leone was a member of the Princeton Congregational Church and the Princeton Senior Citizens. She loved Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where she and her husband Lenny spent many winters.
Leone’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Sterling Village for the wonderful care that Yonnie received. They would especially like to thank Betty, Denise and Joan.
There are no calling hours. A private service will held at the convenience of the family with burial in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leone’s memory to the Sterling Village Patient Activity Fund, 18 Dana Hill Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
