Garnet F. Corey, 86 passed away December 3, 2009 after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Carlene P. (Soderberg) Corey; his devoted children, Roderick L. and his wife Roberta of Lanesboro, Chrystal L. (Corey) Paul and her husband Robert of Grafton; four siblings, Howard Corey, Muriel Fulton, Marion Crossman, Lorna Corey all in New Brunswick; seven loving grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. His parents Harry and Stella (Pearson) Corey and his son Gary J. Corey passed before him.

Mr. Corey was born December 28, 1922 in Presque Isle ME and has lived over 55 years in Grafton. He was a US Army World War II veteran serving in The European African Middle Eastern Theater. He began his working career as a commercial bus driver in Maine and then worked over 40 years at Norton Co. in Worcester where he also maintained a strong relationship with his co workers to the present time. Garnet was an active parishioner of The Baptist Church of Grafton, a member of Delisle – Goulet Post 92 American Legion and The United Commercial Travelers where he was an excellent bowler in their league for many years. Garnet or as he is affectionately known as “The Sheriff”, had a love for life, his wife, family, people and animals. He opened his home to many and touched the life of even more. An exceptionally hard worker, Garnet was a man of principals and value who will be dearly missed by all. The family suggests donations in his memory to The Baptist Church of Grafton, 1 South St. Grafton MA 01519 or The Central MA Shelter for Homeless Vets, 69 Grove St. Worcester MA 01605.

All are invited to calling hours in The Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street in North Grafton Sunday December 6th from 2 to 5 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Monday December 7th at 10 a.m in The Baptist Church of Grafton, 1 South in Grafton Center. He will then be laid to rest with Military Honors in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
