Subscription Update Obituary

Ann T. (Donoghue) Carrigan, 78, of 235 Parker Ave., died peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday morning, June 9, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 55 years, Franklin J. “Frank” Carrigan; a daughter, Kathleen Carrigan Hassey of Carlisle, MA; a sister, Nora M. Donoghue of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Mark, Sean, Michael and Erin Hassey; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins. Her brother, Dr. John J. Donoghue of Hagerstown, MD, died in 1983.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Philip J. and Margaret M. (O’Connor) Donoghue. She graduated from St. Stephen’s High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She lived in Holden since 1978.

Ann was a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She had also worked at Doctors Hospital and later became the head nurse at Worcester State Hospital Intensive Transitional Care, until retiring in 1993. She was a member of Massachusetts Nurses Association. She enjoyed dancing, the joy of shopping, listening to Irish music and spending time with her family.

CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on SUNDAY, JUNE 12, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on MONDAY, JUNE 13 at ST. STEPHEN’S CHURCH, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Wilner, the entire staff at Summit Elder Care, Safeway Transportation, and most especially Lil Zena, for the daily compassionate care they all provided for Ann.
