Born and raised in Worcester by the late Andrew and Anna (Scarano) Vescera, Bart was a lifelong resident of the city where graduated from Commerce High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 where he proudly served his country in the Korean War and earned a National Defense Service Medal. Following his service, he went on to become a dedicated member of the Norton Company as a lift truck operator for many years before retiring. To know Bart was to know that he was fiercely stubborn, yet in the most endearing way. He insisted on doing things his own way, whether it was getting his scratch tickets from the gas station down the street or sticking to well-worn daily routines. Independent to the very end, he lived life on his terms and he lived it well. His mix of quiet grit with gentle sweetness made him easy to love and hard to forget. To know him was to also know his first true love–playing ball. From his younger years of baseball into his senior years of softball, he played with the same level of passion he put into being a dedicated father, husband and teammate. So much passion that it earned him an MVP Award at the young age of 75. When he couldn’t be on the field, Bart scratched his itch by keeping up with the Red Sox-whether it was from the comfort of listening in his car or watching all 9 innings from the couch. When he wasn’t playing or watching the sport he loved, he found simple pleasures in meeting with his friends for coffee at McDonald’s, spending Tuesdays with his granddaughters: Kristina, Angela, Julia and Kathryn and decorating his house for holidays to light up West Boylston Street. He was a longtime and devoted member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where he enjoyed many memorable bus trips. He shared decades of love and laughter with his beloved wife and best friend of 35 years, Carole (Lombardi) Vescera. Their marriage was filled with taking trips to the casino as avid regulars of Foxwoods and Atlantic City, dining at the Wonder Bar and Ronnie’s and sharing a mutual love for the Red Sox. Since her passing in March, not a day went by where he hadn’t missed her. Now as they reunite, they rest peacefully together hand in hand, just how they were meant to be. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Lorrie DeCillis and her husband James of Worcester; three step-daughters, Kathleen Trainor and her husband John of Holden, Linda Grenache and her husband Roger of Holden and Jeannie Goyette of Worcester; three step-sons, James DiGioia of Paxton, Kevin King of Worcester and Jamie Chenard of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Bart is predeceased by a brother, Gennaro Vescera and a sister, Josephine Macaruso. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary, Kimberly and the entire care team with the Summit Eldercare PACE Program, as well as the team at UMass University Campus for their unwavering care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Friday, July 25, 2025, with calling hours from 10:00–11:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605, in honor of Bart’s service and lifelong pride in being a veteran. ]]>

He is survived by his three children, Diane Beals and her husband, Lee of Douglas, Bobby Vasalofsky of Sutton/Worcester, and Robert Solimita and his wife, Gail of Maine; a brother, John Vasalofsky of Spencer; a sister, Lois Parker of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, Maddison, Tori-Lee, Justin, Kali and Holly; 3 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Jaxson and Libby, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vasalofsky was born in Millbury, son of the late John and Genevieve (Zukowsky) Vasalofsky. He graduated from the former Worcester Boy’s Trade High School where he played basketball and his studies focused on cabinet making. He retired from PADCO in Worcester where he dedicated more than 20 years to his craft in custom cabinetry and molding, taking immense pride in the work of his hands and the details others might overlook. A true craftsman, he built not only beautiful spaces for others, but also his own home from the ground up–a place he loved sharing with family, friends, and anyone willing to admire the work. Whether pointing out a perfect piece of trim, or telling the story behind a project, his pride, skill, and love for building were evident in everything he created. Mr. Vasalofsky was equal parts storyteller, troublemaker, and lifelong jokester. If he teased you relentlessly, it usually meant he loved you. His humor filled every room he entered, and his absence will leave things far too quiet. Reta was born on May 30, 1929, on a farm in East Barnard, VT. During the Great Depression, when she was still quite young, her family moved to Winchendon, MA for better job opportunities and to be closer to family. Reta graduated in 1947 From Murdock High School in Winchendon, MA, and from Leominster Hospital in 1950. She was a Registered Nurse for more than 40 years, working at several hospitals and nursing homes, some factories and schools, and she had some private duty cases during her career as well. She also proudly served as an EMT for the town of Brookfield, always trying to give back to her community with her time and abilities. Throughout her life, Reta believed in serving her community, bringing her energetic spirit to everything she did. In the 1960s she was a girl scout leader helping a generation of girls learn leadership skills. Once retired from the medical profession, she became the Merrick Public librarian in Brookfield for several years, delighting patrons with her welcoming presence, positive attitude, and caring nature. She loved reading biographies and anything historical, being a big fan of local, national and world history. She spent a lot of time working on her family genealogy and was thrilled to join Daughters of the American Revolution. Every family vacation included a history lesson and visit to a historical location. Even random rides around the local area were not complete without some sort of historical story and discussion about all the stone walls that are part of the New England landscape. Reta enjoyed her time as a member of the Quaboag Historical Commission and while on the Brookfield Historical Commission, she worked with other members to designate historical districts, homes and buildings in the town and vicinity. Reta was a very social person - “I’ll just be a minute!” always turned into several minutes because she would run into someone she knew, and the gabbing would begin! She enjoyed moments spent at the West Brookfield Senior Center during knitting group time, holiday celebrations and craft events. She made people feel seen and cared for wherever she went. Reta was a very creative and artistic person. She was an inaugural vendor at the Apple Country Fair in 1980 and continued to have a booth for more than 35 years! Her signature “apple tree sweater” was sought after every year with many generations of customers coming by her booth before she could even get set up. She was a knitter, painter, woodworker, stenciler, seamstress and all-around crafter. In her travels, she loved to find a “diamond in the rough” that she could refurbish or upcycle. Reta had quite a green thumb, spending “oodles” (a word she loved to use!) of hours in her outside gardens and yard. She was so proud of the results and often received compliments from neighbors and folks walking by which pleased her immensely. She loved her daily banana, peanut butter, orange spice tea, and the occasional jelly donut or vanilla soft serve as a treat. Her most favorite and treasured activity was spending time with her family as often as possible, but especially during vacations in Maine where she loved to walk the beach looking for seashells, fun rocks, and sea glass with her grandkids when they were young. She leaves her loving son Thomas Gordon Warman (Linda), adored daughters Nancy Jo Brown (Warren), and Gae Susan Warman-Gold; precious granddaughter Kylee Gold; cherished grandsons Wade, Brad and Reed Warman, and Maxwell Gold. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. The family would like to thank the very caring hospice team at Overlook and Care Central VNA who provided professional, gracious, spiritual and compassionate support to Reta and her family for the last two and a half years. We will miss seeing you all regularly and listening to the many renditions of Reta’s favorite hymn, “In the Garden”, that Pastor John and Chaplin Ralph would sing for her. We also wish to thank the Tri-Valley staff and the many wonderful companions and home health aides they matched us with who supported us in her care. Reta always stayed positive and would say to look for the “silver lining” in times of challenge or hardship. You might not notice it right away, but eventually it will be revealed. In honor of Reta, please consider passing on a smile, a kind word or thoughtful gesture to someone in an unexpected moment. In memory of Reta, nurture a plant or garden, knit a hat or some mittens for someone, pick up a book and read it cover to cover, visit a historical landmark and learn some history, take a walk on your favorite beach, or just enjoy a cup of tea or simple peanut butter sandwich with friends. Per Reta’s request, there will be no services. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are under the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home 3 West Brookfield Rd Brookfield. ]]> BARBARA J WILSON (BOCK) BARBARA WILSON J BOCK BARBARA Tue, 01 Oct 1940 Sun, 10 May 2026 Mon, 18 May 2026 https://www.wcmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/barbara-j-wilson-250x300.jpg https://www.wcmp.org/burials/barbara-j-wilson/30757/ Tue, 26 May 2026 23:36:03 https://www.wcmp.org/burials/barbara-j-wilson/30757/ Continue reading ]]>
