The world lost a truly wonderful man when Reed W. Sargent III, 73 passed away at home peacefully on Sunday May 24, 2026 surrounded by the family that adored him after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a few short months ago.

His wife of 39 years, Michele A. (Boucher) Sargent died in 2019. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten including ,six children, George Rocheford and his wife, Darlene, Danielle King and her husband, Thomas, Marc Rocheford and his wife, Caitlin, Matthew Dix and his spouse, Tammy, Lisa Sargent and Melinda Granger and her husband, Christopher; nine grandchildren, Bryanna, Gabrielle, Brandon, Jacob, Dominque, Jordyn, George IV, Emma and Brody; a great-grandchild, Weston; his brother, Thomas Valentine and his wife Sharyn; nieces and nephews and his current canine friend, Piper. Three siblings, Robert Valentine, Richard Sargent and Catherine Clark predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Reed W. and Doris M. (Flagg) Sargent and attended Burncoat High School.

Reed worked at Norton Company for 39 years, retiring as a supervisor. Nowhere was Reed’s spirit more alive than on the golf course. For Reed golf wasn’t just a game – it was his favorite way to bring people together, but the 19th hole at Wachusett Country Club is where laughter and memories were made.

While he was a friend to the world, his greatest devotion was reserved for his family. His brother Tom and him had a lifetime, unbreakable bond that was so special. Reed loved his beautiful bride Michele, his beloved dog Peaches, his children and grandchildren fiercely.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Notre Dame Hospice Program and Reed’s aid Robin, for their loving care and compassion.

Relatives and friends will gather to celebrate his life on Thursday, May 28 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
