RICHARD O BLAIR

It is with our family’s profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Patriarch, Richard aka “Super Dick”, to many, on Saturday August 16, 2025, after a short illness in the loving hands at Rose Monahan Hospice House. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and most recently a great, great grandfather.

He was born in Worcester in 1932 and grew up in the Grafton Hill neighborhood for most of his life. He attended the old North High School where he enjoyed playing football. After High School he joined the Airforce and served our country from 1951 to 1955 in the Korean War. During that time he met the love of his life Theresa Blair, and they married in May 1955 and started a wonderful life together. He worked at General Motors in Framingham as an assembler and became a foreman before he retired at the age of 55 in 1987.

His wife of 66 years, Theresa (Plante) Blair had to leave him in June 2021. He was totally devoted to her care in the last few years of her life. He leaves four children, Michael Blair and his wife Laurel of Worcester, Linda Leonard and her husband Brian of Grafton, Patricia Dupre and her husband Richard of Bluffton, SC, and Denise Mangini and her husband Michael of Rutland. He was predeceased by his eldest son Dennis in 2024 and his daughter-in-law Cindy. He was also predeceased by his brother Donald Blair and a sister Janice Bouthillette.

He became an avid golfer later in life and his love of the game never ended. He made many lifelong friends through his many leagues. He will always be a consummate Patriot, Red Sox and Celtic Fan.

His greatest pride and joy were his 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. They kept him busy through the years, he was their biggest cheerleader at all their sports and extra curricular activities through their school years. He was lucky enough to attend the majority of their weddings and special events and got to meet and hold all his grandkids. He will always be remembered by them for his dance moves to his favorite wedding song YMCA.

He was a simple man but had a heart of gold that showed through his relationships with family and friends. He will be forever in our hearts.

Visiting Hours are Thursday, August 21 from 9-10:30am with a Funeral Service at 10:30am in Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association, Rose Monahan Hospice Program.
