Subscription Update Obituary

     Wilfred J. “Eagle Eyes” Belair, Jr., 83, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, June 15th in Parsons Hill Nursing Center. His wife, Theresa G. (Witkowski) Belair, died in 2012. He leaves two sons, Stevan Belair of Millbury and Wayne Belair of Kentucky; two daughters, Christine Belanger of Worcester and Ruth Norton of Leicester; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Macey and Lorraine Yamilkowski.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Wilfred and Irene (Riopel) Belair and lived here all his life. He was a machine operator at the former Reed & Prince Company in Worcester and Jaffrey, NH for many years before retiring. Wilfred was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving both at home and abroad. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a past member of the Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443. Mr. Belair was an active member of and quite proud of his Native American heritage; he was recently honored by them with the Quilt of Valor.

Mr. Belair’s life revolved around his family; his family would like to acknowledge his cousin Charleen Joubert, her husband John, and their children, Rose, John, and Josh, for lovingly caring for him and bringing so much joy to his life.

The funeral is Saturday, June 18th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A visiting hour is from 8:30 until 9:30 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Worcester Inter-Tribal Indian Center, P.O. Box 70055, Worcester, MA 01607.
