Subscription Update Obituary

     Waldo N. “Bumpa” Pierce, Jr., 90, longtime resident of both Auburn and Paxton, passed away Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at Parsons Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.

Waldo was born in Grafton, son of the late Waldo N. Sr. and Hazel Pierce. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He worked for Norton Company of Worcester as a pipefitter for 27 years. He served as a Private First Class in the US Army Infantry during World War II, working in Japan for a short time. He was an avid golfer and family man. He loved to travel to Maine, Hawaii, and California. Waldo was an active member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn and was a member of their men’s group for many years.

Waldo was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Barbara M. Pierce, this past November. He is survived by two daughters, Joann L. Monks and her husband, Darren Monks of Auburn, and Donna M. Godfrey of Lunenburg; two granddaughters, Heather L. and Jessica L. Monks both of Auburn; a great grandson, Hayden J. Monks of Auburn; and is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters: Louise, Charlotte, and Nellie; and one brother: Eugene.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Waldo’s family on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 from 9:30AM-11:00AM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn with service to follow at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Then followed by burial with military honors at the Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
