Ronald E. Hiitt, 65, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, July 5th, in his home surrounded by his family after a 7 year battle with lung cancer. He leaves his wife and best friend of 45 years, Jo-Ann L. (Trombly) Hiitt; two daughters, Lynda A. Hiitt and Jennifer L. Hiitt, both of Worcester; two brothers, Robert Hiitt of Worcester and David Hiitt; four grandchildren, Tyler Lippe and his wife Devon of Orlando, FL, and Sara Lippe, Jack Lippe, and Crystal Lippe, all of Worcester; a great granddaughter, Shyla Lippe of Orlando, FL; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Marcotte.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Ernest and Mary (Doherty) Hiitt and graduated from St. Peter’s High School and he attended Worcester State College. Ron worked for Peterson Oil Company for many years before retiring due to illness. He was a United States Navy veteran.

Ron’s biggest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren’s sporting activities and his pick-up and drop-off duties. He was an avid New England sports fan, never missing a sports game. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to Central Mass Hospice, who gave Ron such wonderful and personal care.

Ron’s funeral is Thursday, July 9th with a service at 10:00 A.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 8th from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
