Subscription Update Obituary

Robert C. Giroux, 90, of Tremont Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in his home.  He is survived by his partner, MaryLu Garrow of Oxford; five children, Rodney L. Giroux and his wife Michele of Spencer, Cindy M. Schofield of Sutton, NH, Clay C. Giroux of Oxford, Kristel J. Garrow of Worcester, and Ted Garrow of Swanzey, NH; five grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Emily, Jeffrey, Amanda, Chelsea and her husband Patrick, and Emily and her husband Nick; and two great-grandchildren, Lucien and Adeline.  He was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Marie M. (Ellis) Giroux who died in 1984; and his daughter, Roberta J. Giroux who died in 2005.  He was born in Orford, NH, son of the late Arthur J. Giroux and Pearl A. (Butman) Bennet, and lived in Orford, NH, before moving to Oxford in 1954.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Giroux was a union laborer for the Laborer’s Local 243 in Auburn for many years prior to retirement.  He was a beekeeper in Oxford many years ago, and he enjoyed deer hunting.  He was a skilled handyman who could fix anything and would help anyone in need.

A private graveside service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
