Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard T. Wilder “Dick”, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018 after a brief illness, at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 15, 1936 and grew up in Worcester. He was a lifelong resident of Grafton Hill where he spent his life raising his family and working. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and married Joan Marcello on June 4, 1960. He joined the Worcester fire department and spent 28 years serving the community.

He leaves behind his wife Joan (Marcello) Wilder and their five children: Thomas and his wife Wendy Wilder, Deb and her husband Peter Donohue, Stephen and his wife Chris Wilder, Patricia and her husband Alan McCarthy, and Kelly and her partner Francesco Wilder. In addition, he leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Joseph & Michael Scola, Sean and Brian Wilder, Ryan and Shannon Wilder, Olivia and Alexa McCarthy and Liam and Sammy Guarino. Dick also leaves his brother, Kenneth Wilder of Rutland, two sisters, Mary Wilder and Shirley Seaberg, both of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Maureen and four brothers, Paul, Lawrence, Robert, and John.

Over the years, he enjoyed many good times with friends on the Worcester Fire Department. He spent his time golfing, traveling, summers at Hampton Beach as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for being an excellent father and grandfather to his family for which he took great pride.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 28th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. Dick’s funeral will be Wednesday, August 29th at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
