Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard Knox Gough, 90, a resident of Brookdale Eddy Pond, died Monday, January 4, 2021 at Care One in Newton.

Richard was born in Worcester, son of Charles R. and Hazel B. (Knox) Gough and graduated from South High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal and discharged as Sargent Major. Richard worked at the College of the Holy Cross for 49 years retiring as supervisor in the Maintenance Department in 1995.

He loved spending time at his home in South Yarmouth. He was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, the Moose Lodge of Yarmouth #2270, the Worcester Dart League and Holy Cross Bowling League.

Richard was predeceased by his wife of 37 years Irene E. (DeSavage) Gough on November 4, 1995 and he wanted everyone to smile at this time as he will once again be with the woman he loves and misses very much. He was also predeceased by his son, Richard S. Gough of Dennis on Sept. 17, 2014 and his longtime companion, Doris Colby in April, 2020.

Richard will be dearly missed by his daughter Cindy M. Gough and her companion Jim Marlborough of Worcester, two grandchildren, Tarah Toohil and her husband Jerry, and Amy Devio and her companion David Rivera and two great grandchildren, Nevin and Mason Rivera. He also leaves his brother, Robert Gough husband of the late Tea Gough, and his sister-in-law, Audrey Gough, wife of Richard’s brother Raymond who predeceased him.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 8th at 10:00 am at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours to celebrate Richard’s life will be held Thursday, January 7th from 4:00 until 7:00pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Brookdale Eddy Pond West Appreciation Fund, 669 Washington Street, Auburn, MA 01501.
