Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard J. Ferris, Jr., 73, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus. He was born in Worcester, the son of Richard J., Sr. and Phyllis A. (Trudell) Ferris and had lived most of his life in Worcester.

He leaves his loving wife of 51 years, Joan L. (McGann) Ferris; four sons, Richard J. Ferris, III of Worcester, William T. Ferris and his companion, Doreen Smith of North Brookfield, Ronald S. Ferris and his companion, Sharon of North Palm Beach, FL and Stephen A. Ferris and his companion, Jennifer Lambert of Worcester; a daughter, Marlene M. Ferris and her husband, Philip Donovan of Holden; two sisters, Judith A. Bell and her husband, Norman of Oxford and Sherlie I. LaPierre and her husband, Robert of Stowe; a grandson, Justin Donovan; and many nephews and nieces.

After graduating high school, Richard enlisted into the Air Force in 1959 and served his country for four years. Following an honorable discharge, he worked at several companies including, Honeywell in North Andover, Data General in Westborough and retired from Quest Engineering in Billerica as a computer engineer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a committal service at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alternatives (A community life for people with disabilities), 50 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA 01588, or Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, P.O. Box 2157, Framingham, MA 01703.
