Subscription Update Obituary

Nancy K. (Courtney) Hastings, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after a brief period of declining health.

Nancy is survived by her six children, Carol Price of Worcester, Kathleen Chapman and her husband, Wayne of Leicester, Maureen Hastings of Worcester, Nancy Cotty and her husband, Jesse of North Berwick, ME, Thomas Hastings and his wife, Diane of Worcester and Martin Hastings of Boynton Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Nancy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late James J. and Mary C. (Devlin) Courtney and is predeceased by a sister, Marie Maloney. She graduated from North High School and then continued her education at the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

Ms. Hastings worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years at both Memorial Hospital and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Guild of Our Lady of Providence.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, and always looked forward to her time at the beach in Wells and Ogunquit, Maine. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed being with her family and friends and would never pass up an opportunity to go shopping or on an adventure. She also loved to read. Nancy’s home was always open to all, she was a very special woman.

The funeral for Nancy will be held on Tuesday, November 22 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint peter’s Church 929 Main St. Burial will be at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 21 from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to Why Me c/o Sherry’s House 1152 Pleasant St. Worcester, MA 01602.
