Subscription Update Obituary

     Michael P. Asselta, 85, of Auburn died Saturday, May 16, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife, of 60 years Laura B. (Lindkvist) Asselta; his children, Brian S. Asselta and his wife, Lee of Worcester and Cynthia E. Asselta of Auburn; two grandchildren, Anthony and Ali Asselta; two sisters, Mary Knowlan and her husband, Don of Fairfax, VA and Barbara Williams and her husband, Jack of Shrewsbury; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael K. Asselta and a sister, Ann Allison.

Michael was born in Worcester, son of the late Emile and Margaret (Marcello) Asselta. He graduated from Commerce High School and then entered into the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a truck driver for N.E. Grocer/Sweet life for many years before he retired. In his retirement years he worked as a driver for Cloverleaf Chevrolet in Westborough and Edward Buick in Worcester. Michael was a member of the Teamsters Local # 170 in Worcester.

Michael had several hobbies including woodworking and riding his Harley motorcycle, watching his beloved Red Sox, and working in his yard.

Mr. Asselta’s family would like to thank Dr. Steven Rozak and his staff for the many years of compassionate care that was given to Michael.

Funeral services for Mr. Asselta will be held privately in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park at a later date.
