Subscription Update Obituary

     Marjory F. (Wykes) Laine, 90, a lifelong resident of Worcester died Wednesday, December 14th in the Christopher House surrounded by her family. Her husband of 52 years, Tauno W. “Bill” Laine died in 2004. She leaves two daughters, Andrea J. Farrell and her husband, John of Southborough and Paula J. Skorb of Rutland; five grandchildren, Katharine, Andrew, David, Jennifer and Jeffery; four great grandchildren, Madison, Mitchell, A.J. and Kylie and 3 nieces and nephews. She also leaves her best friend of 60 years, Evelyn Phelan of Holden. She was predeceased by her son in law, Gary Skorb and a sister, Rosalyn Frew.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Arnall and Isabelle (Fitzwilliam) Wykes and graduated from the former High School of Commerce in 1944. During World War II, Marjory travelled in an all-girls dance band playing the trumpet. She also sang with the Joyful Singers. Marjory worked for Worcester City Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital and University of Massachusetts Hospital in the medical records department. She enjoyed music and traveling and was a long-time member of All Saint’s Church.

Her funeral is Monday, December 19th in All Saint’s Church, 10 Irving Street with a service at 10:30 AM (please meet church). Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, December 18th from 2:00 until 4:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
