Subscription Update Obituary

     Margaret W. (Stone) Gagas, 99, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center after an illness.

Her husband of 58 years, Peter W. Gagas passed away in 2002. She leaves her son, Charles E. Gagas and his wife, Barbara of Princeton; her grandson, Christian E. Gagas and his wife, Andrea of Danielson, CT; her great grandson, Beckett Truppa Gagas; and cousins.

Margaret was born in Providence, RI, the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Cram) Stone and had graduated from Holden High School in 1935. She worked at Timex formerly General Electric in Ashland for thirty-one years before retiring in 1983. Previously, she worked at Norton Company in Worcester.

She was a member of the Greendale Peoples Church Proto Club and Our Lady of Providence Guild for 22 years and was their recording secretary for 14 years. She volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital gift shop and later in life took up water colors. She also enjoyed crocheting and made baby clothing for many years to sell at the Worcester Galleria.

Margaret’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staff of Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. It was greatly appreciated.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Wednesday, December 13, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center Activities Fund, 76 N. Main Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
