Subscription Update Obituary

     Lawrence G. “Red” McCarl, 94, of North Brookfield Road died Friday, Oct. 16 in St. Francis Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

His wife, Claire R. (Hamelin) McCarl died in 1992. He leaves a son Gary McCarl and his wife Hilary of Brookfield, a daughter Kim M. Foley and her husband Joseph with whom he lived, three grandchildren Peter Hamelin, Chelsea Foley and her fiance Joe Goparian and Koby Foley and his girlfriend Amber Ramsey, two great-grandchildren Mady & Charlie, and a niece Maureen Landerville of Florida. He was pre-deceased by a son Richard Hamelin.

Red was born in Worcester. He served his country during WW II in the United States Army. He was a machine operator and painter at the Rand Whitney Box Co. in Worcester for many years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138 in Spencer. He enjoyed gardening and home construction projects. “Pep” as he was called by his family was a devoted family man and was happiest when spending time with his family and his dogs.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 11:00 AM in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Activities Dept., 101 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
