     Kenneth H. “Ken” Lane, 86, of Auburn, died Friday, January 1, 2016 after an illness surrounded by his loving family

Ken was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Julius and Evelyn (Landry) Lane, he attended Worcester Boys Trade School. Ken served his country proudly during W.W. II with the United States Navy alongside his fellow Veteran and former President Jimmy Carter. In 1952, he met and married the love of his life, Claire Charland and together they started their family.

He worked for over 25 years for Memorial Hospital in Worcester where he was a Biomedical Technician until he retired in 1994. Ken enjoyed his summers at the Freeport-Durham KOA Campground in Maine where he was surrounded by his family and KOA friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and photography, and researching the genealogy of his family. Ken was a member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn ; he was a Scoutmaster for Troop 22 in Worcester and was a former member of Worcester Men of Song.

Ken leaves his wife of 63 years, Claire (Charland) Lane; his children, Kenneth Lane and his wife, Laurie of Worcester, Dianne Shea and her husband, Philip of Auburn, Cathy Baker and her husband, Donald of Webster and Robert Lane and his wife, Christine of Durham, Maine; eight grandchildren, Kenny Lane and his wife, Ann, Kerrie Singer and her husband, Scott, Jeffrey Lane and his wife, Nicole, Philip Shea and his wife, Joselle , Jennifer Matthew and her husband, Jason, Sara Sullivan and her husband, Barry , Mandi VanBuskirk and her husband, Adam and Claire Lane; six great grandchildren, Alyssa and Scott Singer, Abbi and Andy Lane and Cian and Danelea Shea; a sister, Shirley Remillard of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ken’s family on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial with military honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
