Subscription Update Obituary

     Kathleen (McKendrick) LaHair, aged 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday evening, June 3rd, 2015.

Kathleen was the daughter of James and Philomenia McKendrick and was raised in Derry, Northern Ireland. She is survived by her two sons, Brian of Worcester, and Kevin and his wife Patrice of Holden, three daughters, Collette Johnson and her husband William of Oakham, Denise Blanchard and her husband Bruce of Holden, Noreen Davieau and her husband Raymond of Worcester. She was a loving grandmother to her nine grandchildren, Kirsten, Brandon, Danielle, Erin, Kerry, Michael, Kathleen, Patrice, and Colleen and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Trevor, Sidney, Amara, Olivia, Keara, Vinny, and Henry. Kathleen is also survived by her beloved sister, Rosalie Lee of Falls Church, VA and her cherished nephews, Christopher, Alan, Cameron, and nieces, Sheila and Erin. Henry E. LaHair, her husband of fifty-seven years, predeceased her in 2002. She was also predeceased by her son Shaun in 2008, and her grandson Billy in 2011.

Kathleen worked in the family’s business, Erin’s Pub, in Derry during the war. She developed great skills for obtaining unavailable foodstuffs and sundries during the war years. Kathleen met and married her marine, Henry, in 1945 and came to Worcester in 1946.

She retired after twenty years of service at Worcester State Hospital. Kathleen loved her bingo buddies and her Foxwood Troupe. She cherished her annual visits to Falls Church, VA and Ocean City, MD to spend wonderful times with her devoted sister, Rosalie, and nephews, nieces and their families. Kathleen derived great comfort from her lifelong deep and abiding faith. She was a long time parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo and Blessed Sacrament churches in Worcester.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at the VNA Hospice Group.

Calling hours will be held Monday, June 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow at the Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
