Subscription Update Obituary

      John “Grumpy” Larson, Sr., 86, of 12 Ashview Dr., died Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Millbury Health Care Center. He leaves his wife of 62 years Marjorie E. (Hultberg) Larson, his son John Larson, Jr. of Spencer, his three daughters Doris M. Whitcomb and Joyce C. Thebeau and her husband Leo all of Spencer, and Pamela A. Larson of Worcester, a brother Alfred Larson of Charlton and a sister Jeanne Lareau of Worcester, 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Archie Larson and a sister Shirley Wojciak.

Mr. Larson worked in the maintenance dept. at the former Standard Foundry in Worcester for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He later served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army stationed in Italy. He was a member of the American Legion-Post 279 in Auburn and a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Worcester. John adored his grand and great grandchildren, who affectionately called him,”Grumpy”.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Millbury Health Care and the Summit in Charlton for the exceptional care they provided John. Funeral Services are to be held on Friday, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge St., Worcester. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit-Millbury Health Care Center, 312 Millbury Ave., Millbury, MA 01527.
