Subscription Update Obituary

 John Edward Nugent, 92, died peacefully Monday, September 19th at Saint Vincent’s Hospital with his family present. John was born 13 Jun 1924 in Worcester, MA and was the son of Patrick Francis Nugent and Anastasia Teresa O’Dwyer. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie (Kleiza) Nugent; his children, Sharon A. Harmon of Royalston, Daniel J. McGrail of North Scituate, RI, Brian F. McGrail of Shrewsbury, James T. McGrail of Pensacola, FL, John W. McGrail of Shrewsbury and Thomas E. McGrail of Princeton; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Patrick Nugent and Nickolas Patrick Nugent; his sister Mary Margaret Wrubel; a son, James Edward Degnis; and a grandson Shon Michael Mallett.

Mr. Nugent was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a very generous family man who loved his dogs and always took interest in his children and what was going on in their lives. He was a lifetime Red Sox Fan who loved to tell jokes. John’s favorite pastime was when the circus came to town. Mr. Nugent worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works for many years until he retired.

His funeral is Friday, September 23rd with a service at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
